Counselling for Adults – Maidenhead
Covid 19 Update: I am currently offering both online and in person counselling sessions in Maidenhead. Please do get in touch if you have questions about how online sessions could work for you.
Sometimes it can be hard to know what to do with your difficult thoughts and feelings and this is when counselling can help.
Counselling is about working together so that you come to understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences more clearly. With new understanding, you will be able to identify your needs, desires and the first steps towards feeling more at ease with yourself and your life again.
When you cannot make sense of and manage your feelings they often get expressed through behaviour. You may find yourself being:
- angry or aggressive
- tearful
- withdrawn
- turning to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, over work, self harm to numb yourself to the pain.
You may feel alone and separate from those around you. Even family and friends. You may not feel able to talk about how you are really feeling for fear of upsetting others.
In a safe and confidential space, counselling offers you the chance to feel accepted and understood. Feeling safe to talk about what is really going on for you is the first step to being able to move forward.
Initially, it can feel uncomfortable to approach a stranger for counselling and talk about what is troubling you. I will not judge or criticize you or tell you what you should or should not be doing. Instead, I will listen and try to understand what it is like to be you. I hope you will find me to be warm and friendly, down to earth and a compassionate listener. I also hope my years of experience will be of benefit to you.
Counselling means that you do not have to work it all out on your own. I will be there to support, guide and help you each step of the way forward.
